Laptop Specification Guidance

With a wide variety of laptop options, it can be difficult to decide what laptop is suitable for students to use within school and at home. This guide will help and outline general specifications to look for when browsing for your a laptop.

Operating Systems

Windows 10/11:

Nene Valley Partnership Trust uses Microsoft/Windows based technologies, we would recommend students use the same. This allows for familiarity between school and home devices and will enable them to use a wider range of software, should they require it in the future.

  • Intel i5 (12th Gen and above) or AMD Ryzen 5

RAM:

  • 8GB

Storage:

  • 256GB SSD or above (if you intend on storing lots of photos and videos, we recommend choosing a larger storage option)

Battery:

  • Any good capacity battery that will ideally last a school day

Display:

  • 14/15-inch FHD (1920×1080)

Other:

  • Built-in webcam
  • Built-in microphone
  • 2x USB ports (includes a USB-C port)
  • 1 year manufacturers warranty (minimum)
