Wi-Fi – Connecting to the BYOD

This guide will show you the process of connecting to the “Bring you own device” WiFi network.

Please note, whilst this guide uses Windows 10 as its example. The guidance remains the same for all types of devices and software.

Step 1

On your personal device, open WiFi settings and press “Connect” on Campus_BYOD.

Step 2

Type in the BYOD password and press “Next”

This password can be found in the Sixth Form centre and can be requested from IT by members of staff.

Step 3

You are now connected to the BYOD network, however, your device requires a downloaded certificate in order to be used.

Step 4

Open your internet browser and type in the following into the URL:

www.securly.com/ssl

Once the page has opened, press the “Download the certificate” button (as highlighted in the image below).

The webpage should automatically detect the type of device you are using, however, there are links lower down the page if it does detect incorrectly.

Step 6

An executable will then be downloaded, once downloaded open/run the file.

Step 7

Your device may prompt for permission to run the file, to continue, press “Yes” and the file will then run. Adding a certificate to your device.

Step 8

Now the certificate is installed, restart your internet browser. You will then be prompted to sign in with your work/school login, once signed in, you will be able to access websites/applications.
