Microsoft Teams – Setting Call Defaults for Calling to Microsoft Teams

This guide will show you the process of setting call defaults for calling to Microsoft Teams.

Step 1

Open “Settings” and click on the “Apps” section on the settings homepage.

Step 2

Once the “Apps” section has opened, select “Default apps” from the menu on the left of the screen, scroll down the page and left-click on “Choose default apps by protocol”.

Step 3

You will then see a list of protocols in alphabetical order, locate the protocols listed below and confirm that the “Default app” is set to “Microsoft Teams”.

Protocols to check: CALLTO, IM, SIP, SIPS and TEL

Step 4

Should a protocol not have Microsoft Teams set as the default app, click “Choose a default” and select Microsoft Teams from the drop-down menu. It will then be set as the default app.
